Joe Stern-McGovern: Hail to the King

“The King is dead, long live the King,” announces the imperial court crier from yesteryear? No, strangely these words come from the harshest of Joe Stern-McGovern’s critics over the years. Often known as a “Media hound”, the icon, Joe Stern-McGovern, has frequently been cast as the creator of media darlings and would be stars whether warranted or not, making the unknown known overnight and bringing charisma to even the lowliest of knaves. Within the ranks of colleagues and subordinates, his knack for the superlative has often brought criticism from the ranks. This said, within the space of several months, the former rogue agent has been cast in the most revered and benevolent of status with the creation of the charity driven site, http://www.endhivaids.com.

With the tragic death of his oldest child, Kenneth McGovern, who lost his battle with AIDS at the close of 2007, Joe Stern-McGovern became a man with a mission. He chose to pick life over greed and excess, using his talent for verbage with a sprinkle of magic dust to make the world a better place for all of mankind. Uniting with his partner, Shaka of Shaka Productions, the duo set out to create an entity which would collect funds for various charities, some of which include AMFAR, the Children’s Hospital, but primarily the cause of pediatric AIDS through the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, http://www.pedaids.org in honor of Joe Stern-McGovern’s late son.

On the site, http://www.endhivaids.com, the charitable consumer can find a wide variety of today’s freshest urban hip hop ala the sounds of dirty south act and ingenues, Black Flock Gang, soon to be found at their chic and unique site, http://www.blackflockgang.com. On the Black Flock Gang site, the consumer will find varied selections from the hottest act to hit the market in years, with numerous links to the http://www.endhivaids.com site. Indeed, fans will be able to purchase not only their singles, but their latest CD compilation, BFG: Anthology, a bold name to say the least for an act only established within the last several years, a title such as one would expect from the master of the grandiose, Joe Stern-McGovern.

BFG

Hood Shuttlesworth of the BFG

The BFG: Anthology site is a project which has roots coast to coast, as the album is produced by renowned genius and master on the wheels of steel, DJ Funk Daddy, http://www.funkdaddy.com. With Seattle producer Funk Daddy’s super touch, the act is rocketed to new heights, and figures to be Joe Stern-McGovern’s one-two thrust into the future of hip hop.

Generally speaking, Black Flock Gang is a group of artists hailing throughout the Deep South, from Houston to Florida and then up to N. Carolina, with its core to be found within the major cities of Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia, the oft claimed, “Capital of Crunk”. Its founding members are the FAM Boyz (For all Money), and Dem Hardheadz, blood brothers and masters on the microphone. Together, Hood Shuttlesworth, Facts, Lo, DO, and Pain blaze the path of tomorrow through deft lyrics and accomplished delivery coupled with the element of raw and vibrant intelligence. Yes, the Black Flock Gang might just be Universal Artists, International, Joe Stern-McGovern, and Shaka Production’s crown jewel.

Joe Stern-McGovern of Universal Artists, International, with his charity driven site, www.endhivaids.com, has announced its latest request to all musicians, singers, rappers, producers, management, publicists, agents, and promoters. In his bid to eradicate the HIV/AIDS virus through powerhouse AIDS charities such as AMFAR, Children’s Hospital, and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, he’s requested of all artists that they donate a single today to the www.endhivaids.com site rather than challengers such as Itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, and Amazon in the name of charity and the chance for a cure.

With percentages of return higher than that of the competition, Joe Stern-McGovern has afforded artists the opportunity for exposure, a position as big fish in a smaller pond, the chance to do good for mankind and society, and profit all at the same time. All Joe Stern-McGovern asks is that they donate a single exclusively to the www.endhivaids.com site for a period of at least one year. While the seeds of their singles are planted on the www.endhivaids.com site, they will receive write ups, positions within the Top 20, and bonuses onsite  such as their turn as the www.endhivaids.com site’s featured artist, including photos and a minimum of 5 singles, provided 5 singles are furnished.

www.endhivaids.com

Spanning the Globe

Set up on the site is completed by the staff of the www.endhivaids.com site upon submission, and the contract and its legalese are basic and easy to comprehend. Artists are allowed a wide latitude of artistic freedom with the acceptance of a multitude of themes and genres in their search for self-expression. Exposure, freedom, money in one’s pocket, combined with the chance to do good for their families and their fellow man provide a powerful equation for benevolence and success.

Won’t you please visit the www.endhivaids.com site today? If you’re an artist, try to imagine your single onsite doing good for yourself and mankind. If you’re a consumer, imagine your purchase leading to the betterment of the human condition, the chance to end man’s modern day plague, and provide yourself with enjoyment and entertainment encompassed with as little as a single purchase. To corporate entities in search of a charitable cause, sponsorship is encouraged and rewarded through exposure, honorable mention, and the opportunity for receipts for tax purposes.

For any any questions, please feel free to use the form under the contact page at www.endhivaids.com, or write to Joe Stern-McGovern’s office at either payments@universalartists.net, joe@universalartists.net, or joesternmcgovern@myspace.com. If you’re interested in trying your hand at this charitable endeavour, please write to universalartists@myspace.com or again through the www.endhivaids.com contact form on the site’s contact page.

Picture yourself and your cohorts featured on a powerful site making a true difference. To all artists so inclined your consideration and participation are encouraged, welcome, and gratefully accepted.

Global Effort to End HIV AIDS

http://www.endhivaids.com: Uniting the World Against HIV/AIDS

With its goal to help in the effort to find a cure for the HIV/AIDS virus, Joe Stern-McGovern, global agent and President of Universal Artists, International, has announced the coming force in the world of music, Black Flock Gang’s, music downloads available exclusively at the future site created for charity, knowledge, and understanding, www.endhivaids.com.

In a quote from the Universal Artists, International leader, Joe Stern-McGovern states, “We’re attempting to show our support for the global organizations and leaders who are doing all they can to thwart the HIV/AIDS virus through financial contributions gathered through the sale of our products.”

Download to Donate

http://www.endhivaids.com: Download to Donate

Who are the most likely to receive these funds? Various clinical research organizations such as AMFAR, those which serve to better the lives of children suffering from the virus, such as the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, St. Judes, and Children’s Hospital, Gay & Lesbian health activists, legal heavyweights such as the ACLU and LAMBDA, and many others.

“We’re trying to put as much money towards the cause as we can,” states Joe Stern-McGovern, “and at the same time gather the means to continue in the various parts involved in making this movement a success, such as site fees, advertising, and other related expenses.”

How will the movement of Joe Stern-McGovern and Universal Artists, International fare, only time will tell, but with the power of the Southern force known as Shaka Productions of Birmingham, Alabama, and his vanguard of soldiers, Black Flock Gang, also known as BFG, chances for success lean towards the more positive end of the spectrum.

“The BFG is a statistics breaker,” states Joe Stern-McGovern, “it’s sheer genius and momentum will shatter all previously conceived measures of success in the charts and through word of mouth.”

United Against HIV/AIDS

Shaka & A-Dub: Uniting to End HIV/AIDS

A bold statement indeed, but having heard the material ourselves, we tend to agree with this icon known as Joe Stern-McGovern, a figure given towards brash statements and bravado in what some might consider a Ted Turner-esque sort of manner.

Black Flock Gang, consisting of Dem Hard Headz, DO and Pain, coupled with the FAM Boy$, Ms. Fame, Facts, Lo, CO, and the ambitious Mr. Hood Shuttlesworth, will burst out of the gate with their smash follow up to the, “Welcome 2 da Bams”, album in a second entrance into the market with the album simply titled, “Radio”. “Radio”, a compilation of BFG, Ms. Fame, and Jacksonville’s artful brothers, Ripp & Redd, is the first in a series of charitable material which has come to be known as, World Mixtape.

Jacksonville's Ripp & Redd

Ripp & Redd: Donating Talent for a Great Cause

What is a Mixtape many ask? In reality, it’s a CD compilation of various hip hop’s future stars joining to hop onto what are largely the beats of other artists of prominence. In the case of Universal Artists, International, all their material is original, however, the element they share with the mixtape phenomenon is the mustering of street credibility, outspoken and haughty declarations, and a supreme sense of one’s self coupled with the factors of authenticy and believability.

Black Flock Gang: Download to Donate

Sharing part on the follow up mixtape to Radio, BFG will be joined by the sultry sounds of Ms. Kesha Lee, as well as the lyrically headstrong, Christian Levi, both hailing from Birmingham, Alabama. Reports from the field are that both Ms. Kesha Lee and Christian Levi are poised for their breakouts as solo artists, something all fans of hip hop and R&B are avidly waiting for courtesy of Joe Stern-McGovern, Shaka Productions, and Universal Artists, International.

If all of this wasn’t enough, all material from the World Mixtapes have been finalized by Seattle’s very own, multi-platinum producer, DJ Funk Daddy. Known throughout the Emerald City and the greater Pacific Northwest, DJ Funk Daddy has worked with the very best, and continues his artesan’s tradition on the turntables and microphone with adept skill and dedication to the true nature of hip hop. For more information on DJ Funk Daddy, please visit his site at, www.funkdaddy.com.

The ultimate winner in all these endeavours of Joe Stern-McGovern, Shaka Productions and his artists, and DJ Funk Daddy, are the fans who all hope will download to donate in the most generous of fashion. They are what makes the industry what it is, as well as creating the impetus for where it is headed. After all, without its fans, how far could any genre go?

DJ Funk Daddy: Doing His Part Against HIV/AIDS

Please look for the coming site, www.endhivaids.com sometime in mid-January, where you will delight to the smooth sounds, thumping bass, and articulations of the likes of the BFG as they reflect on the need for awareness, education, and a cure through their music and the contribution it’s expected to generate.

For more information, please write to joesternmcgovern@myspace.com, universalartists@myspace.com, or blackflockgang@myspace.com.

To book an appearance or any other scheduling matters, please feel free to write directly to Joe Stern-McGovern’s assistant at, joe@universalartists.net. Look for information and updates coming soon regarding the South’s definitive hip hop instrumentalist, A-Dub of Tiptonville, Tennessee, as well as his partner on the microphone, Lake County’s Lil’ J.

A-Dub: The Best at What He Does

“Together,” states Joe Stern-McGovern, “we can defeat this plague. It’s Universal Artists, International and Shaka Productions sincerest intention to do so in the most powerful and accomplishing manner.”

Again, please look for the Black Flock Gang’s greatest material, past and present, exclusively at www.endhivaids.com. Your patronage and donations are greatly appreciated.

Universal Artists, Int'l. Supports Our Troops

PROMOTE PEACE
“I pray for my life every night, as it’s another day  in hell, as I’m walking through the battlefield. Still wanting to come home, but I know that I can’t, so I just stick with it, because I know in my heart, this is for my country…” Johnny Get Your Gun

As the United States comes close to the end of yet another year mired down in what appears for all purposes to be a fruitless and senseless pursuit of security and freedom without solid basis or foundation in Iraq, it must ask itself, how much longer to wander aimlessly down this road without without clear end in sight? Swept into a dream state, a nightmare of neither sleep nor rest, it wanders pointlessly throughout a hostile land which hasn’t changed in culture or resentment since the close of the second world war and the dismantling of the days of naked colonialism.

In America’s blind pursuit of economic latitude, and longevity of the securement of reasonably priced crude, it has inadvertently fallen pray to a foe it had once believed itself worthy of side stepping the second time around, entrenchment and siege, such as it had experienced on the level of Vietnam. In spite of the U.S.S.R.’s history of similar suffering and beleaguer in their occupation of the troublesome and perilous nation of Afghanistan, the US continues its drive into the region, threatening to ignite the ire of a people legendary in defiance of any power which fails to recall its opposed mindset in search of its own sovereignty and freedom since the days of the Khyber Pass.

Throughout the sixties and early seventies, Generation X suffered the daily bombardment of images of the Vietnam War broadcast from pitch battle and directly piped into their living room’s television sets. The throngs of protestors, largely known today collectively as baby boomers, sought freedom from propaganda, secrecy, and war. They proceeded so loudly and defiantly, they unwittingly forced the proverbial powers behind the throne to take notice to the extent they would pay heed to such lessons and censor future generations of Americans.  Perhaps they’ve reverted to secrecy to stave the threat to national peace given the reality of polar extremes of political,  moral, and ethical thought, but their public reasoning seems veiled and questionable.

Again, as the year draws close to the end, we are left to ponder the question of an end to all of this. Do we truly believe this will draw to a close with any Congressional Act for withdrawal given the seeds we’ve planted throughout the region? Yes, for all purposes it will appear we’ve weathered the storm, but have we truly, and at what future cost? What does destiny hold for generations to come in a region notorious for religious, cultural, racial, and political conflict since the beginning of time.

Does the cradle of civilization reside within the borders of Iraq, or is it the bath of chaos, the source of churning conflict, and the slaughter mill of not only our youth but theirs?

In the sad, telling music video, “Johnny Get Your Gun,” written, directed, produced, and edited by Joe Stern-McGovern, and performed by A-Dub and Lil’ Chase, the story told is that of a youth of today swept abroad into the conflict in Iraq. The video shows the progression and doomed fate of Johnny as he transitions from fear, insecurity, despair, and then oddly boldness, only to find his end at the conclusion story’s end. Narrated by his grieving friend (Lil’ Chase), Johnny’s (A-Dub) sad letters home are read to his worried mother throughout the song’s chorus. It’s touching, heartfelt, and inevitable conclusion to a story thousands have come to realize in this tangible world.

Please join us now as Joe Stern-McGovern and Universal Artists, International, accompanied by Shaka Productions, present to you the beautiful and haunting music video, “Johnny Get Your Gun,”  a recurring theme which seems to trail America since the days of its inception.

When will we, or anyone else, ever truly be free? How long will this violence continue? Where is end in sight? How many more of our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and friends will continue to bear this senseless grief in a muddied and oft questioned conflict? Support our troops, but who in their right mind could support a concept so miserable as war, by definition a pall on the blighted soul of mankind?

“Disconnected realities without proper analysis or sufficient information, blindly defended through violent means under questionable circumstances, and born on the backs and blood of our children in a distant land…Farewell Vietnam, hello Iraq, goodbye to our sons…and with a stroke of the brush, the world was painted red!”

Joe Stern-McGovern

Support our troops, but think before you blindly support the cause. Ask yourselves, in a world with civilizations as advanced as ours, isn’t their any other means than war?

River Cuts the Snow

I sit on bench and stare
Through glass with chipped paint pane
Too dusty to view the fields
In which you played last fall
Born third week of winter
You lit these fields with gold
This fire burst in folds
To who does the curled peak call?
Then the wind stole you, my child
As quickly as you’d come
It was as if this never was
Where does this river run?
Gone like a gossamer puff on dale
As I listen to the ptarmigan sing
If we could imagine beyond such things
If it hadn’t been for AIDS
Hail falling in clumps like fists
Silver fox which dies before age
A gnarled pine which never fades
Dew which sits on lotus at noon
So fine a man you’d have made
I sit on bank a ghost’s shell
The fallen mallard lost to hope
I thought I heard you lost in this storm
As I watch river cut the snow

For my son, Kenneth

Facts of the BFG: Let's Do This

Facts of the BFG: Let's Do This

In 1985 or there close within, a young rapper named LL Cool J burst onto the scene with his fresh, innovative, and ultimately brash single, “Rock the Bells” under the label Def Jam. Who could possibly forget such classic lines as, “You bring the woodpecker, I will bring the wood”? Our favorite line from the single, however, would be that of, “I will battle anybody, I don’t care you tell…” And with such a boast, LL reigned supreme for years with Earl, the DJ whose hand was like a shark’s fin on the wheels of steel.

There has been enough smack talking from the likes of many platinum heavyweights to last a lifetime, and frankly, Universal Artists, International and Joe Stern-McGovern, global agent and President of the company, have decided it’s time to call all bluffs, to stop those who would deal from the bottom of the deck, to prove their own worth, and to reign supreme, just as their ancestor, LL Cool J, did in the mid-80s. With an eye towards cornering the rap market by somewhere around 2014, Universal Artists, International has announced to the world, “You think you can touch this, you talkin’ to me, well then let’s cash battle, sucker DJs”*.

Joe Stern-McGovern: A Challenge for Charity

Joe Stern-McGovern: A Challenge for Charity

Beginning January 2010, Universal Artists, International’s heavyweights, Black Flock Gang aka BFG from the self-titled smash CD, BFG, and their oft featured artists, Christian Levi and Ms. Kesha Lee, will set out on the road to battle all comers to prove their dominance in the highly competitive world market. Sucker DJs globally, be prepared to be shut down, to have your mama thoroughly disrespected, to bow your heads in shame, and to wipe those saline tears of miserable failure away as you have your proverbial asses handed to you Dirty South Style courtesy of the BFG.

DO: Ain't No Other

DO: Ain't No Other

Is this a claim on behalf of the notorious, infamous, and supreme BFG that the South trumps east, west, and midwest? Certainly not. Why might one ask? Simply said, with the versatility of the BFG, they consider themselves masters of every variation, bringing due respect and paying homage to each in their own way. Not only will the Black Flock Gang break out in verse to make the hardest of the Eastern seaboard suffer whiplash, they will rock the richter scale until California falls off and into the ocean as the next largest island of the world. If they fail to show restraint, California might entirely become the next Atlantis.

Fans Awaiting the BFG Concert

Fans Awaiting the BFG Concert

Sucker DJs of every realm, bow down in reverence as the kings who came to save the game pass before your mortal eyes. You name the place, you name the date, you name the style, and watch yourselves stepped on like a petulant red ants on a picnic blanket. The BFG will demand nothing short of your full measure of respect. Show them a line and they will cross it in a minute. If you can see them, it’s too late to run.

The Honorable Hood Shuttlesworth

The Honorable Hood Shuttlesworth

“Disciples of soul, godfathers of rap, our rhythm is down as your mama is whack,” claims Japan’s lead envoy for Universal Artists, International. Yes, the BFG have already made their way overseas and leveled the best the Japanese market has to offer in exhibition shows against some of the greatest styles in the manner of Ludacris, Lil’ Jon, Slim Thug, Ice Cube, and even the tattoed poet himself, Lil’ Wayne.

No one can bring the energy of the BFG, no one can match their verbal skills and delivery. The BFG will make a grown man cry to any of the numerous beats by Tiptonville, Tennessee’s own A-Dub, conqueror of crunk and his cohort, 731 joker of Lake County and pop’s answer to the age old question of the chicken and the egg, Lil’ J.

A-Dub & Lil' J: I Been On

A-Dub & Lil' J: I Been On

Is this challenge by Joe Stern-McGovern of Universal Artists, International belligerent? Not at all, it simply underscores the supremacy and dominance of the BFG for any of the unenlightened, ill spoken, disrespectful, or simply “act a fool” MC. Like Hammer said in his time, “Can’t touch this,” and from the likes of Public Enemy, “Don’t believe the hype,” and Vanilla Ice…well, let’s not even go there…

In words of caution from those under the Shaka Productions camp in Birmingham, Alabama, “Man up, fool, check your D, because you’re ’bout to feel the fury of the BFG, B!”

In a quote from Joe Stern-McGovern, he summarizes his own take on the legends come to be publicly, collectively, and individually as the BFG,

“You cannot hold down the human spirit any easier than you can surpress the intellect. Give it some time, and it’s certain to rise to the surface and beyond your wildest dreamsn and expectations”.

When asked about the BFG and their lyrics, methods, and take on life, the company’s President, Joe Stern-McGovern, gave the following response,

“When I was a youth myself, we realized we were doing many sectors and slices of society a disservice, socially and politically speaking. These children were fed on the lies, corruption, and propaganda of forces supposedly larger than themselves, but they’ve risen, risen from the plumes with a message which won’t be swept beneath the carpet.”

Joe Stern-McGovern: President of Universal Artists, International

Joe Stern-McGovern: President of Universal Artists, International

Joe Stern-McGovern continued to state,

“Their lyrics are a social commentary, a take on their lives in a society which has tried to mold them into what they wanted them to be, pawns and worker ants to the queen, but they have a message to send with their own take on the turn fate has handed them.

If the world, let alone any invidual has taken up issue with the BFG? In a quote from Joe Stern-McGovern,

“Society has made their bed, now they can lie in it. If the powers that be cannot deal with the indignance of the disenfranchised who refuse to be categorized or smothered by sweeping generalizations, let them do better next time, and try harder with future generations”.

Lo of the BFG: The Usual Suspect

Lo of the BFG: The Usual Suspect

In a quote from Joe Stern-McGovern,

“The dye is cast with this lot, and now society will face their full fury, as well as their sometimes poetically beautiful take on the human condition.”

In one word from one journalist, “Wow!”

The black flock gang has arrived, and will continue to reign supreme as long as they care to carry their message, and once having done so in a manner of haughty arrogance coupled with humility, the saviors of the hustle many call rap will pass on the torch to their own sons and daughters for millions to thrill to in future battles.
