Joe Stern-McGovern: Hail to the King

“The King is dead, long live the King,” announces the imperial court crier from yesteryear? No, strangely these words come from the harshest of Joe Stern-McGovern’s critics over the years. Often known as a “Media hound”, the icon, Joe Stern-McGovern, has frequently been cast as the creator of media darlings and would be stars whether warranted or not, making the unknown known overnight and bringing charisma to even the lowliest of knaves. Within the ranks of colleagues and subordinates, his knack for the superlative has often brought criticism from the ranks. This said, within the space of several months, the former rogue agent has been cast in the most revered and benevolent of status with the creation of the charity driven site, http://www.endhivaids.com.

With the tragic death of his oldest child, Kenneth McGovern, who lost his battle with AIDS at the close of 2007, Joe Stern-McGovern became a man with a mission. He chose to pick life over greed and excess, using his talent for verbage with a sprinkle of magic dust to make the world a better place for all of mankind. Uniting with his partner, Shaka of Shaka Productions, the duo set out to create an entity which would collect funds for various charities, some of which include AMFAR, the Children’s Hospital, but primarily the cause of pediatric AIDS through the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, http://www.pedaids.org in honor of Joe Stern-McGovern’s late son.

Kenneth McGovern, c. 1989

On the site, http://www.endhivaids.com, the charitable consumer can find a wide variety of today’s freshest urban hip hop ala the sounds of dirty south act and ingenues, Black Flock Gang, soon to be found at their chic and unique site, http://www.blackflockgang.com. On the Black Flock Gang site, the consumer will find varied selections from the hottest act to hit the market in years, with numerous links to the http://www.endhivaids.com site. Indeed, fans will be able to purchase not only their singles, but their latest CD compilation, BFG: Anthology, a bold name to say the least for an act only established within the last several years, a title such as one would expect from the master of the grandiose, Joe Stern-McGovern.

BFG

Hood Shuttlesworth of the BFG

The BFG: Anthology site is a project which has roots coast to coast, as the album is produced by renowned genius and master on the wheels of steel, DJ Funk Daddy, http://www.funkdaddy.com. With Seattle producer Funk Daddy’s super touch, the act is rocketed to new heights, and figures to be Joe Stern-McGovern’s one-two thrust into the future of hip hop.

Generally speaking, Black Flock Gang is a group of artists hailing throughout the Deep South, from Houston to Florida and then up to N. Carolina, with its core to be found within the major cities of Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia, the oft claimed, “Capital of Crunk”. Its founding members are the FAM Boyz (For all Money), and Dem Hardheadz, blood brothers and masters on the microphone. Together, Hood Shuttlesworth, Facts, Lo, DO, and Pain blaze the path of tomorrow through deft lyrics and accomplished delivery coupled with the element of raw and vibrant intelligence. Yes, the Black Flock Gang might just be Universal Artists, International, Joe Stern-McGovern, and Shaka Production’s crown jewel.

Joe Stern-McGovern of Universal Artists, International, with his charity driven site, www.endhivaids.com, has announced its latest request to all musicians, singers, rappers, producers, management, publicists, agents, and promoters. In his bid to eradicate the HIV/AIDS virus through powerhouse AIDS charities such as AMFAR, Children’s Hospital, and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, he’s requested of all artists that they donate a single today to the www.endhivaids.com site rather than challengers such as Itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, and Amazon in the name of charity and the chance for a cure.

With percentages of return higher than that of the competition, Joe Stern-McGovern has afforded artists the opportunity for exposure, a position as big fish in a smaller pond, the chance to do good for mankind and society, and profit all at the same time. All Joe Stern-McGovern asks is that they donate a single exclusively to the www.endhivaids.com site for a period of at least one year. While the seeds of their singles are planted on the www.endhivaids.com site, they will receive write ups, positions within the Top 20, and bonuses onsite  such as their turn as the www.endhivaids.com site’s featured artist, including photos and a minimum of 5 singles, provided 5 singles are furnished.

www.endhivaids.com

Spanning the Globe

Set up on the site is completed by the staff of the www.endhivaids.com site upon submission, and the contract and its legalese are basic and easy to comprehend. Artists are allowed a wide latitude of artistic freedom with the acceptance of a multitude of themes and genres in their search for self-expression. Exposure, freedom, money in one’s pocket, combined with the chance to do good for their families and their fellow man provide a powerful equation for benevolence and success.

Won’t you please visit the www.endhivaids.com site today? If you’re an artist, try to imagine your single onsite doing good for yourself and mankind. If you’re a consumer, imagine your purchase leading to the betterment of the human condition, the chance to end man’s modern day plague, and provide yourself with enjoyment and entertainment encompassed with as little as a single purchase. To corporate entities in search of a charitable cause, sponsorship is encouraged and rewarded through exposure, honorable mention, and the opportunity for receipts for tax purposes.

For any any questions, please feel free to use the form under the contact page at www.endhivaids.com, or write to Joe Stern-McGovern’s office at either payments@universalartists.net, joe@universalartists.net, or joesternmcgovern@myspace.com. If you’re interested in trying your hand at this charitable endeavour, please write to universalartists@myspace.com or again through the www.endhivaids.com contact form on the site’s contact page.

Picture yourself and your cohorts featured on a powerful site making a true difference. To all artists so inclined your consideration and participation are encouraged, welcome, and gratefully accepted.

Universal Artists, Int'l. Supports Our Troops

PROMOTE PEACE
“I pray for my life every night, as it’s another day  in hell, as I’m walking through the battlefield. Still wanting to come home, but I know that I can’t, so I just stick with it, because I know in my heart, this is for my country…” Johnny Get Your Gun

As the United States comes close to the end of yet another year mired down in what appears for all purposes to be a fruitless and senseless pursuit of security and freedom without solid basis or foundation in Iraq, it must ask itself, how much longer to wander aimlessly down this road without without clear end in sight? Swept into a dream state, a nightmare of neither sleep nor rest, it wanders pointlessly throughout a hostile land which hasn’t changed in culture or resentment since the close of the second world war and the dismantling of the days of naked colonialism.

In America’s blind pursuit of economic latitude, and longevity of the securement of reasonably priced crude, it has inadvertently fallen pray to a foe it had once believed itself worthy of side stepping the second time around, entrenchment and siege, such as it had experienced on the level of Vietnam. In spite of the U.S.S.R.’s history of similar suffering and beleaguer in their occupation of the troublesome and perilous nation of Afghanistan, the US continues its drive into the region, threatening to ignite the ire of a people legendary in defiance of any power which fails to recall its opposed mindset in search of its own sovereignty and freedom since the days of the Khyber Pass.

Throughout the sixties and early seventies, Generation X suffered the daily bombardment of images of the Vietnam War broadcast from pitch battle and directly piped into their living room’s television sets. The throngs of protestors, largely known today collectively as baby boomers, sought freedom from propaganda, secrecy, and war. They proceeded so loudly and defiantly, they unwittingly forced the proverbial powers behind the throne to take notice to the extent they would pay heed to such lessons and censor future generations of Americans.  Perhaps they’ve reverted to secrecy to stave the threat to national peace given the reality of polar extremes of political,  moral, and ethical thought, but their public reasoning seems veiled and questionable.

Again, as the year draws close to the end, we are left to ponder the question of an end to all of this. Do we truly believe this will draw to a close with any Congressional Act for withdrawal given the seeds we’ve planted throughout the region? Yes, for all purposes it will appear we’ve weathered the storm, but have we truly, and at what future cost? What does destiny hold for generations to come in a region notorious for religious, cultural, racial, and political conflict since the beginning of time.

Does the cradle of civilization reside within the borders of Iraq, or is it the bath of chaos, the source of churning conflict, and the slaughter mill of not only our youth but theirs?

In the sad, telling music video, “Johnny Get Your Gun,” written, directed, produced, and edited by Joe Stern-McGovern, and performed by A-Dub and Lil’ Chase, the story told is that of a youth of today swept abroad into the conflict in Iraq. The video shows the progression and doomed fate of Johnny as he transitions from fear, insecurity, despair, and then oddly boldness, only to find his end at the conclusion story’s end. Narrated by his grieving friend (Lil’ Chase), Johnny’s (A-Dub) sad letters home are read to his worried mother throughout the song’s chorus. It’s touching, heartfelt, and inevitable conclusion to a story thousands have come to realize in this tangible world.

Please join us now as Joe Stern-McGovern and Universal Artists, International, accompanied by Shaka Productions, present to you the beautiful and haunting music video, “Johnny Get Your Gun,”  a recurring theme which seems to trail America since the days of its inception.

When will we, or anyone else, ever truly be free? How long will this violence continue? Where is end in sight? How many more of our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and friends will continue to bear this senseless grief in a muddied and oft questioned conflict? Support our troops, but who in their right mind could support a concept so miserable as war, by definition a pall on the blighted soul of mankind?

“Disconnected realities without proper analysis or sufficient information, blindly defended through violent means under questionable circumstances, and born on the backs and blood of our children in a distant land…Farewell Vietnam, hello Iraq, goodbye to our sons…and with a stroke of the brush, the world was painted red!”

Joe Stern-McGovern

Support our troops, but think before you blindly support the cause. Ask yourselves, in a world with civilizations as advanced as ours, isn’t their any other means than war?

Hood Zone: King of the Jungle

Hood Zone: King of the Jungle

In a move which many in Birmingham, let alone the entire music industry, call the coup d’etat of this century, Universal Artists, International’s Joe Stern-McGovern and Shaka of Shaka Productions have somehow managed to ensnare the elusive big cat, the man eater of idle prey, the king of the jungle, Hood Zone of the industry’s rap and R&B notorious Hood Zone Productions fame.

A young man by any account of relativity, Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions was born into this world a prodigy of unique distinction. The heir to a long blue bloodline of the musically inclined, Hood Zone of Hood Zone Production’s recently departed father was a renowned keyboard player whose claim to fame includes a stint as a player for the legendary, Temptations.

According to industry phenom himself, Joe Stern-McGovern, who is reportedly juggling a current 3 way circus in the form of a rumored buy out by EMI, Sony/BMG, or the large conglomerate of Time-Warner, Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions is the key element on the chessboard introduced at precisely the right time.

Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions: The Signing

Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions: The Signing

Embroiled between giants in a bold contest for the sale of the century, Joe Stern-McGovern has played his hand, pulling an ace from his sleeve in the calculated and brilliant signing of the elusive, Hood Zone of Birmingham, Alabama. With a single checkmate move, Joe Stern-McGovern has moved from stalemate to certain victory in this battle of modern day industry trench warfare.

It is reported that unbelievably, the largest signing of this decade to date went down in the center of Birmingham, where Shaka of Shaka Productions fame, Joe Stern-McGovern, and the modern day savior of the urban game, Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions, met at a fast food joint of all places, where they dined on apple turnovers and sweet tea with ink pen at the ready.

Hood Zone: Nothing Less than Success

Hood Zone: Nothing Less than Success

Down to earth, the trio was above the usual pomp and cirmcumstance that would usually accompany such a monumental occasion. Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions, the common man’s white knight, and black knight to the naysayer, was dressed in simple black and adorned with what was reported as black headdress. Although each of the three held enough power to level destinies, dynasties, and the idle idol, their junta was casual, civil, and yet the singular signing of the century.

What does the future hold for Hood Zone one asks? Why not simply ask the destiny of surefire success, as by its very definition, Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions implies glory and untold fortune by name and reputation alone. Is Hood Zone the crown jewel and king to pawn’s move in today’s game? The question is rhetorical and needn’t be given a second thought. His mastery of whichever genre Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions chooses to perform, as well as his adept managerial skills and concern for his fellow man, have earned Hood Zone a ranking at the top of what many consider an extremely cutthroat business at the very least.

Hood Zone: Can't Touch This

Hood Zone: Can't Touch This

Money, money, money…does anyone have a spare wheel barrel for rent? As the single by FAM Boy$ and blood brothers, Dem Hard Headz of BFG fame, as well as Christian of Christian Levi fame’s smash single, Dis How Money Sounds implies, it’s a player’s world, and Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions refuses to rest on his certified laurels as monster publisher of ASCAP, continuing to cash in on every opportunity the market presents the contemporary Stephen Hawking with.

If you’ve ever wondered what the future looks like as it stands before you, if you’ve ever asked yourself what is the source of genius, if you’ve ever pondered the notion of the artistic sublime, look no further than Hood Zone of Hood Zone productions.

Hood Zone: An Unstoppable Force

Hood Zone: An Unstoppable Force

Kudos must be given to Joe Stern-McGovern and Shaka Productions of Universal Artists, International, especially in these times of economic hardship, as the trio which now includes the genius of Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions promises hope on the horizon of the lost, weary, and yearning music lover and general consumer.

What is the solution? Where did genius begin? Who will save the game? Who rules supreme and uncontested? Hood Zone of Hood Zone Productions. Bow down mortal fools to his capitalistic genius, his artistically shrewd intellect, and yet open and humble nature. Lesser gods of the distant heavens, humble yourselves as Joe Stern-McGovern and Shaka of Shaka Productions bring a king before your eyes.

Hood Zone and Shaka: It's a Done Deal

Hood Zone and Shaka: It's a Done Deal

Help Combat AIDS & HIV Through Charitable Donations

Help Combat AIDS & HIV Through Charitable Donations

Having faced great loss with the death of his young son to AIDS, Joe Stern-McGovern, global agent and President of Universal Artists, International in partnership with Shaka Productions has taken a stand against the modern plague through vigorous and tireless dedication, by providing partial proceeds of company sales to various causes, and writing about his own personal loss.

In 2007, young Kenneth, son and eldest child of Joe Stern-McGovern fell ill with a virulent strain of HIV he contracted while participating in an exchange student program overseas. When Kenneth returned to the US, he was already advancing into the final stages of his life.

By the close of the year, Kenneth’s illness had progressed into AIDS. While working hard to cover the costs of Kenneth’s hospice care and other medical bills, Joe Stern-McGovern failed to be at his son’s side when he died at the age of 20 years old, one day shy of his 21st birthday.

Haunted by his absence in the final hours of his son’s death, Joe Stern-McGovern wrote the following poem to express his grief and disbelief.

Never to Dream

My child whose died
I wait for you, come back to life
I wander through this empty house
All by myself
The blackest night
Without the moon up in the sky
No light for these old photographs
As I wander through the past
There is no peace in the night
My son is lost, my spirits down
There is no love in the dark
My entire world has lost its light
Such tragedy
I can’t escape and all is blind
I cry each night
My son, my child has died of AIDS
With things to do
He died alone
While I was away
It’s time now
Draw the window blinds
Be strong for him
I say I’m fine
A future he will never know
And with his death so went my soul
Friend, I know
That what we had in years were dreams
My son, lie still
I tried to change it all
And while I’m fine
My child lies dead
And I think I’ll never dream again

With the publishing of this poem, Joe Stern-McGovern felt such an incredible sense of duty to help others who might experience similar feelings of grief, and sought to donate partial proceeds of the sales of future Universal Artists, International’s CD albums to various AIDS charities worldwide.

If you are interested in finding out how you can help Kenneth, Joe Stern-McGovern, and Universal Artists, International help combat the plague of HIV/AIDS, please visit your local or favorite charity and make a donation in the name of Kenneth and for a good cause and a disease which requires larger measures of education, research, tolerance, and funding.
